Letters after name
« on: Tuesday 25 September 18 16:05 BST (UK) »
Hi,
Does anyone know what WBCM means after a name?  I think the person concerned was a doctor.
He died in 1916, so I guess this is an old use of letters?

Thank you.

Are you sure that those are the letters?  Could they be badly written. I'd expect the first letter to possibly be an M if it was a medical qualification.

Maybe MDCM:

MDCM is an abbreviation of the Latin Medicinae Doctor et Chirurgiae Magister, which means "doctor of medicine and master of surgery."

That's the most likely  :)

Added - I see his will states that he was a medical practitioner.
