William ANDERSON marriages
« on: Wednesday 26 September 18 12:29 BST (UK) »
Just found out in Scotlandpeople that my grandfather William Alexander ANDERSON born Jun 1883 Denny and died Oct 1965 did marry 2 other women. I thought they were house keepers (defacto today). 1st was my g/mother Mary Bell MYLES born Aug 1882 and died Aug 1936 at Denny. I have all her information but the 2nd wife was Bessie Gray BELL who he married in 1941 at Bonnybridge and Bessie died aged 53 in 1946 at Bonnybridge (maybe registered there). I know nothing abt her.
The 3rd wife is Anne Robertson McFARLANE who he married in 1949 in Kilsyth. I knew her as a child as Aunty Anne). She passed away aged 74yrs in 1962 at Falkirk. I was wondering if anyone has access to maybe the Falkirk Herald for a possible marriage and death write up on any of these ladies. We live in Australia so it is difficult to go into any offices.
Many thanks for any help.

Given the ages of both wife 2 and 3 it’s likely they were both previously married.  Downloading copies of their respective death certs from Scotlands People will give you more info

Looks as though Bessie wasn't previously married unless the informant didn't know the details as she's only registered under the 2 surnames;

ANDERSON BESSIE GRAY 53
1946
473/ 53 Bonnybridge

Corresponding Ref. no. with surname Bell

Thank you Carole and Annie for your reply. I didn't know much about Bessie as she died the year I was born. I believe she was a head cook for a lord of a manor somewhere in Scotland. Apparently she took her own life which is sad. Thought I might be able to read some of the events that happened such as there marriage and an obituary. As mentioned before I knew Anne as a lovely lady and was hoping to find anything written of their marriage and death. Don't know if I can access the Falkirk Herald going back that far. I have visited my Grandfather, grandmother and his other two wife's grave and headstone in the Denny Cemetery. They are all listed there.
Many thanks

I wonder...do you have Bessie's DC as I would imagine there may be an entry in the RCE which may give a bit more detail regarding her death/suicide although I can't be sure?

Sorry for late reply. No I haven't gone for her DC as I wasn't sure they were married. Can you tell me what RCE is?

Can you tell me what RCE is?

A note in the Register of Corrected Entries.

Here's an example from 1 I have i.e. the column which reads 'Cause of Death'

I don't think if someone took their own life it would be stated in a newspaper?

I've known of suicides (not in that era) but have only ever seen them stated something along the lines of 'the body of a man was found...' & something like 'no suspicious circumstances' i.e. no-one else involved.

Others may have seen different?
