Thanks. I am acquainted with Simon Irwin, youngest son of Cyril Frederick Irwin, and thus grandson of John Pritchard Irwin. Simon is keen to trace his Irish roots and has visited Co Mayo where he found a good deal of helpful suggestions but no actual records. Going by the few records that are online, and the citation of George Orme Irwin as John Pritchards father in the Swansea parish register entry for his wedding to Agnes Thorpe, I have tentatively assumed that George may well have been the son of the Irwin Orme marriage in 1816.
The only birth location given by John Pritchard Irwin to census takers was Glenmayo, but usually merely Mayo or just Ireland.
What Simon and I would really like to find are some parish records which would confirm John Pritchard’s parentage.

Why go to Mayo if the Registers are in Dublin (as per Page 3 of PDF posted)?

I've  just read your post on John Pritchard Irwin, he was my Great Grandfather on my maternal side, my grandmother was Ethel Agnus Irwin. It's  nice to know there's  still family members left.

Maybe the OP and other posters have progressed with their research in the interim, but if not, just to note the following man who may be related.  I can see a Crossmolina Church of Ireland parish burial record transcript for a 'William Orme Irwin' who died at Glenamoy in 1899, here is the associated civil death registration (born c. 1844 if reported age is accurate):
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/deaths_returns/deaths_1899/05777/4633353.pdf

And a maybe for his marriage?
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/marriage_returns/marriages_1874/11231/8117434.pdf

Maybe also a death for his wife (described as 'Wife of Wm. O Irwin')?
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/deaths_returns/deaths_1881/06427/4846389.pdf

There is also a transcript of a burial record for a George Irwin of Glenamoy who died on 7 June 1862 at a reported age of 56 (maybe baptised 1804 and married to Anne? I can provide more detail if needed).

Thank you Gaffy.  Where did you see the transcript of George Irwin's death in 1862?
This is all very helpful, for which many thanks.
