Worshipable order mercers

Once again returning for more of your insight. Are you aware of any searchable information online in relation to the worshipable order of Mercers, circa 1850 as to their tenants.
And if so where would this information be housed, would it be the guildhall or Proni.

There is no townland of Moneymore in the Mercers estate, but the tenant list does include 10 Campbells in Fallahogy, Lislea, Lisnagrot, Moynock & Tirnageeragh townlands. Moneymore is a townland covering part of the nearby town of Maghera which was owned by the Bishop of Derry and rented to the Clark family at that time.  Moneymore would be better known as the name of a town south of Maghera on the estates of the Drapers Company. There were Campbells in both these towns in 1859 in Griffith Valuation (search online at http://askaboutireland.ie/griffith-valuation/index.xml?action=nameSearch ) so I would check to see which is your family before proceeding. You can also check for them in 1831 in the census (online at http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/search/ ) as there were Campbells in both Maghera and Moneymore then too.

Hi, thank you so much for this, however, just one point, I understood the nearest town to Moneymore was Maghereafelt, not maghera, in fact my gt,grandfather was born in Magheraelt. Am I missing something here. Sorry to be so obtuse. Help.

I think you might be confusing the registration district of Magherafelt with the town itself?

Thank you for information you have given, I have taken several days to ponder on this ( always good ). To explain my actions, in the absence of any other information, my investigations have led me to a family of Campbell living at the correct time, based in the appropriate town area of Magherafelt. It is true that this might not be the correct family, however, if as you say, you have evidence of a further ten people, living within what could be the correct area, I would be delighted to have the opportunity to be able to investigate those.
As you stated ten people, it might help whittle them down to a Cristian name of James. I have found the help and support from rootschat to be both helpful and very informative so a very big thank you guys.
