Stanley Bevan Born c 1884 Pontypridd

Hi there,

We are trying to find out who Stanley's parents are and wondered if anyone could help us please?

We know there is another Stanley Bevan, possibly Stanley John Bevan in the area at the same time who's father is James but if you follow the family history through the census records, he ends up not being the Stanley we are looking for.

Our Stanley married Lilly Price in 1909 and had Elizabeth Bevan in 1909, James Caneva Bevan 1913-1920 and Morgan William 1914-1982 (Morgan is the direct ancestor).

Given the first son's name it is possible his father was called James but there is just the confusion with Stanley and Stanley John.

I can only find 2 Stanleys on GRO:

Have you looked at the 1939 register to find his actual birth date?

Hopefully his marriage cert would give his father's name and occupation.

The marriage is on F M P.   Stanley was a Tin Plate Worker for Abertillery,  his father is listed as James Bevan -Tin Plate Worker and one of the witnesses  was Ivor Bevan

Father is James a tinplate furnaceman and mother Elizabeth

The only birth entry I can find for a Morgan W. Bevan in 1914 is in Mar.qtr. 1914 Pontypridd and has mmn as Paynter, not Price - the death for Morgan William Bevan in 1982 gives birthdate of 16/1/1914 which ties in with this birth entry. 

I am therefore confused that you say his mother was a Lily Price.

Have you bought (or discounted) the Pontypridd birth certificate - mother not named on the GRO - as you say you know it’s where he was born? Just Pontypool, Chepstow and Abertillery are some way from Pontypridd.

The GRO entry for that birth says Morgan Wyndham Bevan (not William).
