Ford Cemetry, Liverpool - headstone question
« on: Saturday 29 September 18 11:44 BST (UK) »
Hi,
Originally posted this in a different topic, and it was suggested I repost it here - apologies if you've seen it twice!

Just been to Ford Cemetery to look for a plot (M135). Found the location, but it's part of a square area in one corner of the M section where the headstones are all missing. It doesn't seem likely the way the numbering is laid out here that these would all have been buried without headstones, so just wondering if anyone might know the history of this part of the cemetery? Looks like maybe 15 plots from the high end of each of the first 5 rows are missing. You can feel stone just under the grass, and scuffing a way bit you can see what might have been the base of a row of headstones where you'd have expected the headstones to be

Thanks,
kevin

Hi Kevin, don't know if this will help or not, but M122 to M133 are all convent graves, so I would not think they would have headstones.
Your M135 is the Mc Vey family, with 6 McVey burials & 1 x Edith Woodyer; so a private grave.
good luck

Hi Marienne,
That's interesting, thank you. Can I ask where you got your information on M135? My maternal grandmother, Margaret, is buried there (1918). I'd be really interested in knowing more detail (names/dates of who is buried there) if you have it, or are able to point me to where I can find it?

Kevin

Thanks Marienne, that's unbelievably helpful. From the information in there I've been able to confirm three separate relationships I'd thought likely previously but could never be sure of, and opened up some interesting further avenues. It's a shame information indexed by plot isn't more widely available online!

Once again, thank you!

glad to help, with 89 microfiche in the set I can't see it being digitised in a hurry.
