George Payne born at St John's Wood
« on: Monday 01 October 18 10:15 BST (UK) »
Could some kind person help me find details for George Payne, born St John's Wood about 1874. His parents were George & Elsie. Think George senior was born in Yorkshire. Birth dates for George senior and his wife and locations would be very much appreciated. I know George junior died in 1920 and is buried in Otley, Yorks.

What record(s) have you taken this info from?
I cannot see 1881 (for example)

The original details come from the Commonwealth War Graves Commission.

You are correct. My Error, Elsie was his wife, not his mother.

Well, there's nothing to place a George Payne b 1874-ish St Johns wood in any census that I can see.
Nor can I see a "good" birth or baptism registration.

So unless you have some other information to add, I don't think  any progress can be made.

I have been through the BMD's , with no joy. I know the connection is Otley, however I cannot find the family link. Thank you for looking.

The connection is Paynes born in Otley and following the numerous family lines throughout the country. They have a tradition of being buried in Otley, even when they have died in another county.
