Help identifying arms

This plaque is built into the walls of St Cattwg's church in Port Eynon, Gower. There are the initials RM and a date of 1583. It is possible that a member of the Mansel family is referred to, but I am hoping that an identification of the quartered shield will help.
So, if anyone can recognise any element of this, I'd be grateful!

The current building is completely Victorian, rebuilt at the expense of Christopher Rice Mansel Talbot of Penrice so possibly their crest  ?

There are also two interesting old plaques; one dedicated to Daniel Button of Overton, died, 1800 and placed on the wall by Thomas Mansel Talbot of Penrice and the other bears the initials RM, probably Rice Mansel, and an ancestor of the Talbot family.

Hi

The original thought was Rice Mansel of Oxwich but he died in 1559. There was a nephew of his also called Rice (or Rhys) who died in 1583 but he had no particular connection to the area as far as we can tell, and the arms on his grave at Llantrithyd are described as Mansel/Bassett which is why I think a specific identification of this shield/arms will help.

There does seem to be wear on the stone and its hard to tell if 1/3/4 are the actual Mansel arms ; the "things" other than the chevron in 1 look almost like branches with leaves on, and I can't tell if there is actually anything other than the chevrons in 3 & 4. It would possibly be helpful to know what family the cross in 2 represents... I have a fairly extensive Mansel family tree.

The date looks to be 1788. Who was Mansel married to at that time and who was her mother?

The possible permutations for 2 run into hundreds.
