Martha Williams (Married name Martha Mathias)
« on: Saturday 06 October 18 04:08 BST (UK) »
I am trying to help my daughter research her ancestor Martha Williams, or more importantly her PARENTS who are nameless so far. There is ample information on Martha Mathias from Family search and from the England and Wales census in 1911. She was estimated to be born in 1897 at
Puncheston  Pembrokeshire and was married to a John Mathias. they had 6 children. How might I be able to find out who her parents were? would there be that information on a birth certificate if I were to obtain one and could someone point me in that direction please? I am living in Arizona unfortunately...if I were in those areas, you know where I would be spending my time. thank you in advance for any help.

I think you probably meant born 1879 in Puncheston, Pembrokeshire.

In 1891 there was a Martha Williams  age 12 b Puncheston and working as a servant in Puncheston, however as you have found I can't see this Martha in 1881

Do you have the marriage  cert for John and Martha which may list  her father??  A birth cert would list her parents names but Martha Williams is sadly a rather common name

you would need to start with the marriage certificate, which should give a parent for Martha (who was b 1879).

Looking at 1911 though, it suggests that Martha went "home" to give birth to Myfanwy

MATHIAS, MARTHA  MYFANWY     MMN: WILLIAMS  1901  D 1/4 in HAVERFORDWEST  Vol 11A  Page 1206

so it might be worth getting that certificate for the 1901 birth address and searching that in 1901?
I can't see a "good" candidate marriage as yet

There is this , shown as Banns. I don't have access to the image.
Wales, Glamorganshire, Parish Registers, 1538-1912
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:KCBM-277

and another possible relevant record?

This looks a decent candidate for John Mathias in 1901. No Martha around though.

The surname combinations look like it may be possible to infer whether the other 2 wed each other.
