William Britten marriage 1807
« on: Saturday 06 October 18 08:32 BST (UK) »
Has anyone got access to Sunningwell parish registers?
Looking for further info on the marriage of...

William Britten and Sarah Collason. 19 Sep 1807, Sunningwell,Berkshire.

Were there any witness's or any clue's as to where and when William was born.

Thank you.

I see Sarah is a widow in 1861 - do you know when William died - does he appear on a census at all?
Hinchliffe - Huddersfield Wiltshire

BRITTEN William (X), minor Abingdon St Nicholas
COLLASON Sarah, sp 21
wits: Joseph ROGERS, John BURGESS, Wm DYKE

Wm DYKE probably parish clerk as he was witness in quite a few marriages.

No William baptised at Abingdon St Nicholas but there is a William BRITTON baptised at Abingdon St Helens on 20 Apr 1788, s/o Francis and Mary, mason, which could be a possibility. Would be a minor in 1807.

Sarah was baptised at Sunningwell 6 Apr 1786, d/o John and Charlotte.

Thanks guys, I have'nt found him or Sarah together on any census's but the birth in 1788 looks a possibility. I'm ok with Sarah's side, it's just William that's been a mystery.

Just found Sarah in 1871 census St Nicolas, Berkshire. She is 85 and widowed. With her are daughter Ann Webb and Granddaughter Eliza Deadman.  If William died in Feb 1816 it's unlikely that Ann was born in 1817, I can't find a birth or baptism for her. There is a marriage to William Webb, 02 Jan 1840,Saint Mary,Reading,Berkshire, which I would like to find more details of.  Ann and William were living in  Lewisham, London in 1861.
What I would like help with is Sarah in census's 1841 - 1861. The birth of Ann Britten and marriage details of Ann Britten. Also details of marriage Sarah Britten - John Turner  05 Jul 1812, Abingdon,Berkshire.
Thank you.
