Walter was definitely born Hockley B'ham as was other members of the family.
I understand there is a facility for contacting the Memorial site owners re. corrections.
Someone's put 2 & 2 together & got 5.

Walter died for his country, and whether born Hockley Essex or Birmingham he's on the memorial, I just wanted to get it right ,

You have yet to convince me that the chap who died in 1915 was even named Walter, let alone one born Hockley in whichever county.

Those details are in 'Soldiers Died In The Great War', as mentioned in the first post.

First post mentions a death for W Fletcher (not a walter).

There isn't any doubt he's called Walter (also see Soldiers effects register) & was born Hockley B'ham.
There isn't a Hockley Warks. but there is a Hockley Heath Warks.
These places have been mixed up before in the belief they are one in the same.
On this occasion Hockley (B'ham) has been assumed to be Hockley Essex & no one's checked the details.

It was clear to me.  CWGC only gave the initial W, and the obvious next step was to cross-check with Soldiers Died In The Great War, which gives additional details including the forename and place of birth.

I didn't give a link to SDGW as it is a basic tool for anyone researching names on WWI memorials.  I'm surprised if you were unaware of it.

NOT EVERYONE USES ANCESTRY.
Note : I DID ask where the information had come from, and exactly what it said, MORE than once, and never got an answer!!!.
