Scottish Graveyards
« on: Sunday 07 October 18 20:50 BST (UK) »
Hi,

I'm not sure if this has already been discussed before, but is there any websites that specifically focuses on graveyards in Scotland? I've been on Find a Grave in Scotland website but it seems to be defunct now?

Cheers.

I know of a couple:

http://www.memento-mori.co.uk/

https://scottish-monumental-inscriptions.com/

That's in addition to the Scottish coverage on national sites such as:

http://www.deceasedonline.com/

https://www.gravestonephotos.com/

Sometimes this kind of information isn't online, but available through family history society publications.

Others may have other, or better, suggestions, but if you can tell us which places you're interested in we might be able to suggest specific resources for you.
Researching among others:
Bartle, Bilton, Bingley, Campbell, Craven, Emmott, Harcourt, Hirst, Kellet(t), Kennedy,
Meaburn, Mennile/Meynell, Metcalf(e), Palliser, Robinson, Rutter, Shipley, Stow, Wilkinson

Thank you arthurk,

I've used the Scottish monumental inscriptions site a couple times but I'm finding it to be rather expensive!

I'm trying to narrow down my 4x Great Grandparents- William Stewart and Jean Ramsay who were thought to have died in the lanarkshire sometimes before 1841 Census. But the problem is that I have no idea what their birth years were and where they were living at the time of their death. This is like searching for a needle in the haystack!

Thanks.

Hi I have had a quick look at Family Search and they married in Witson and Roberton Parish also it appears their 2 children married in Witson and Roberton in 1841 and 1842 I would look there for their deaths as it appears they lived their married life there
