Will of William Batchelor
« on: Wednesday 10 October 18 18:02 BST (UK) »
I have started to transcribe the 1779 will of William Batchelor but have got a little stuck on some of the words. I am attaching the snippet from which I have retrieved the following.

Diamond of Brenchley in the county of Kent xxxxxx xxxxxx
                                                     xxxxx xxxxxx xxxxxx
xxxxxx xxxxxx upon the death of Ann xxxxxx ʌ of Alfriston
in the said county of Sussex Butcher of and in all that xxxxxx
Manor of Deans Place and also of and in xxxxxx messuages lands

Can anyone fill in the gaps and if I have misread anything, offer a correction.

....Butcher of and in all that the
Manor............... and also of and in divers Messuages

The top bit is pretty messy londonscorpion!
The first word after 'Kent' looks to start with 'ff'.

If the first word 'Diamond' refers to a person, who is of Brenchley in Kent, then you would have expected the next word to be an occupation. 'Farmer'? but I'm not convinced.

I think the bit interlined is an addition to clarify who Ann Ne? was, and  possibly says 'wife of Richard ?urman

The first word of the second line is 'reversion' and the next expect...

Hope fully somebody else can pick up the other bits.

line 2: reversion expectant upon the death ...

Can you please post your transcription of the preceding part, as the sense of the whole sentence might help to determine the missing words?
