Thank you to everyone for contributing to this thread and many thanks for the various links.

I was trying to recollect where I had actually seen Weston Bayley mentioned as having lived at Tunstall Hall, and I remembered I had seen it in an old edition (about 1937ish) of Burke’s Gentry. In this he was described as being of Madeley, and of The Grove and Tunstall Hall, Salop. His wife Esther was the daughter of William Church, and he was described as being of Tunstall Hall too, and also Betton Hall (which is near to Tunstall Hall) so I’m even more confused. Perhaps Weston was there because of his wife’s interest in property as she was co-heir.

Peter and Eleanor Broughton trying to obtain custody of a lunatic sounds really interesting. I wonder what was going on there?
