Ann Rose (& John Barlow)
« on: Thursday 11 October 18 10:48 BST (UK) »
I am struggling to find the DOB or parents of my GG Grandmother, Ann Rose. Married John Barlow in 1853 at Norbury (Hazel Grove) St Thomas in Stockport, and lived her life in Stockport. In the 1861, 1891, 1901 England Census states Ann was born in Preston, Lancashire. Strangely (and I think incorrectly) in the 1871, 1881 England Census states she was born in Stockport, Cheshire. I calculate her DOB to be @1833/1834.

Any help would be a bonus.
Thanks
Catherine

If her father really was a George Rose there is a death on the GRO site for a George Rose Mar 1840 Preston 21 544 aged 47.

There is also a death for a Mary Rose Dec 1839 Preston 21 450 aged 49

Just a thought.

The family might have been RC.   If the Rose family emeltom found in 1841/51 was correct and John Rose was born in Salmesbury  - There is this RC baptism??

Thanks Kay99, lancsann, Annette7 and emeltom. The marriage certificate with George Rose as the father is correct, as John Barlow and his father Henry were bricklayers from Stockport. James Parrot as witness to the marriage, is John's uncle.

emeltom's findings of a deceased George and Mary Rose prior to the 1841 census is very possible. Just need to link George, Mary and Rose!

Thanks everyone

With reference to the George Rose death in 1840 there is a Will held at the Lancashire Record Office for a George Rose, Shoemaker, who died in Preston in 1840. Might be worthwhile buying a copy - I can't see a copy on line.
