Perhaps, but John would have been shown as mothers maiden name Greig if that was the case and mother is actually shown as Margaret Galt ( no father) Also her marriage to Andrew would normally be indexed under Galt and Greig if she was a widow, and it is not. My feeling is that Margaret was born illegitimately as a Galt and that Janet subsequently took on the name Greig ( possibly by a subsequent marriage) and Margaret also then went under that surname. I have tried to find them in the 1851 census, but drawing a blank at the moment.
A Janet Greig or Galt died in Patrick in 1899, but she was 70 which doesn’t tally with the age on the 1861census.

I’ve had a look at the 1870 marriage for you. It took place on 16th Feb 1870 at 63 Commercial Road, Glasgow ( given as home of both the bride and groom). Andrew was age 26, a bachelor, occ Seaman, Merchant Service. Father Henry Richardson, a Wood sawyer, Mother Ellen Richardson nee  McClure.
Margaret was age 24, a Domestic Servant. Father John Galt, a Warehouseman, mother Janet Galt nee Greig.

John and Janet Galt are living at 63 Commercial Road in 1871 ( same address as 1870 marriage of Andrew and Margaret). Also living there are Henry and Ellen Richardson ( parents of Richard). There are other Galt children who look to be children of John’s first marriage to Jane Thompson.
So looks like Margaret was born Greig but took on her stepfather’s name.
