There is a John Cross, born Omagh, residence Lytham, killed 6 December 1917.

(Soldiers Died In The Great War 1914-1919)

The Register of Soldiers' Effects says "John A", and shows "Sole leg William A".

Commonwealth War Graves adds "Son of William A. and Sarah A. Cross, of 174, Cliftonville Rd., Belfast. Enlisted Aug., 1914." which helps locate his parents after the war.
Looking at ALSTON in south Ribble area, ALSTEAD and DONBAVAND/DUNBABIN etc. everywhere, HOWCROFT and MARSH in Bolton and Westhoughton, PICKERING in the Whitehaven area.

Thank you for your reply Andrew, now Iím baffled, unless Iím mistaken, I have found the birth of

John A E Cross in Omagh 1892 parents are William A Cross & Sarah A Cross nee Condlin
Marriage of

William A Cross & Sarah A Condlin in Glasgow, Scotland 1899

William & Sarah are in the 1901 census in Lytham with John listed as cousin,
John is then in the 1911 census in Seaforth staying with Williamís father listed as grandson
So it does sound like my John Cross who was killed but the address for the parents in Belfast has thrown me.
Thanks Karen
