St Mary Magdelene baptism records
« on: Friday 12 October 18 16:31 BST (UK) »
Hi. Would anyone please be able to tell me if there are any St Mary Magdelene Burnley baptism records? In particular, I am looking for my grandfather's, Joseph Rigby, who was born in 1906 Burnley. I have a few church based photographs and am trying to find out the church they relate to. As he lived in the same area as St Mary's, I would like to be sure that that is the church. If anyone can help or advise me where to go it would be appreciated. Many thanks

Baptisms are available on Lancs opc site but only upto 1904 unfortunately. There is another St Mary in Burnley, St Mary of the Assumption but your Joseph is not there in 1906 either.

There are some church registers for Burnley on A....y but sadly not St. Mary.
I checked Lancashire baptisms 1813 - 1911 but no Joseph.

Thanks to you both. Colc when you searched Lancashire Baptisms, was St Mary Magdelene included? The thing is I am not 100% positive he was baptised there.

Thanks again Colc. I have just found earlier Baptisms for St Mary Mags, for 2 of his younger brothers. Although they lived at a different address in 1898 and 1900. Do you think they would remain with the same church?

For anyone looking for Baptisms, Lancashire archives at the Record office in Preston hold these for St Mary Magdelene. Just found out my grandad Joseph Rigby was baptised here.
