Redditch baptisms ~ CHAMBERS
« on: Saturday 13 October 18 12:53 BST (UK) »
I am looking for help with George CHAMBERS, father James please

FamilySearch has a baptism for a George, 6 Aug 1815, to a James and Elizabeth. Two other siblings have the same baptism date. On the 1841 (unreliable I know) and 1851 census George's year of birth is abt 1811. Can anyone confirm that this George is my George please.

Also, can anyone give me the marriage details of James to Elizabeth Unk please

Many thanks

I don't know where you found the info that a James Chambers married an Elizabeth Unk but I have a feeling that Unk may stand for Unknown.

I'm assuming this is George in the 1851 at High St, Aston?

George Chambers    40    Redditch, Worcestershire
Jane Chambers            41    Aston, Warwickshire
Mary Chambers            10     Aston

HO107/2060 / 86 pg24

And that you have his father's name James from the marriage details? Does it say what James' occupation is - just to help with further searching?  :)

Yes, that's the one.

No I don't have James' occupation yet. The basic transcription is on FamilySearch but I need to get to the library to view the actual record. Witnesses could be useful as well.

I've found two brothers of George and tracked them but there are two sisters and I can't find what happened to them yet.

I'm pretty confident that George died sometime between 1852 and 1861 but his death does not seem to be registered - in Warwickshire anyway.  >:(

Just checking again ... is this George in the 1841 at Aston:

George Chambers    30    Warwickshire
Susan Chambers    30
Maria Chambers       8
Susan Chambers    5
Mary Chambers       0
Maria Horton       50

HO107/1148/12  pg16

So, George was first married to Susan HORTON 21 Nov 1832 at Birmingham, she dies (though I can't find the death reg) and George (widow) remarries to Jane SIMS 26 Aug 1848 at Aston.

Likely death for George:
burial 16 May 1859, George CHAMBERS aged 49, residence - Deritend - though I can't find the death registration
