Help needed my gt grandfather Harry Guthrie married his second wife in 1955 in leeds, Yorkshire (Mary Ann Wood) she was born 8/1/1909 according to the 1939 register but on the BMD it says she was born in 1901, but I can't find a birth for her... Could her maiden name be different to Wood, She died in 1971 Leeds Yorkshire as Mary Ann Guthrie.

A marriage certificate would give any/all previous names.

How did you pick out which Mary Ann was "yours" in 1939?

Mary and harry are registered at the same address in 1939

Harry Guthrie is in the same household in 1939

You have children surname Wood shown on the 1939 with full birthdates - have you not looked their births up on freebmd to see mothers maiden name?

Looks to me like it could have been Barlow
