Baptism Richard Tomkinson 1717
« on: Sunday 14 October 18 11:09 BST (UK) »
I'd be grateful for a translation of this baptism entry in the Keele PR for Richard Tomkinson. It looks like Richard son of Richard Tomkinson of the parish Of Woolstanton -something?- viz bastard bapt November 16.

It does look as though he was the bastard son of Richard Tomkinson. I think the other word is Nothus (Bastard)

The burial on Nov 26th only names his father.

Many thanks.
It's the first illegitamate baptism record that I've come across that names the father, and not the mother. I wonder why.

Possibly because it is early 1700's when mothers were often not mentioned
