interestingly there was an Alexander Bieth mccallum born 1872 in Liverpool who then goes on to marry in Birkenhead in 1916

Alexander Bieth McCallum, b 1872, was at 6 Falcon Road, Birkenhead in 1901 and 272 Borough Road in 1911.

He is a possible suspect father.

Alfred Frederick Thorne married Bridget Countney in Birkenhead, Q1 1875, but don't seem to have had a daughter named Ellen. I can't see her in 1891-1901.
