Hit a Brickwall help please.
« on: Sunday 14 October 18 23:39 BST (UK) »
Hi Everyone.
I have been researching my family history for a few years, but keep hitting a Brickwall with my grandfather.
He was John McCarry in 1911 Census he listed as John McCorry age 22 born Armagh, along with wife Annie age 22 born Belfast, sons Patrick Jos and Henry at 9.2 Massareene Street Belfast.
In my search their children surnames have been McCarry, McCurry, McCorry, and McKarry, I have tried various spelling of name McCarry and draw a blank.
John McCarry married Annie McCann 1908 St Peter Church. John father also John McCarry occupation Carter, John gives address as 22 Cinnamon St and Annie gives 54 Balkan St. Both Address are not their family homes.
I have found Annie McCann born 1888 and her family, but Mr John McCarry remains a mystery. John McCarry died 1939 age 47 at Durham St Belfast. Maybe a flesh pair of eyes looking at this my help.  Thanks you Marie

Hi Sinann
Thank you for your reply,I to have found John McCorry and Rose Fagan. My mother their first daughter was named Mary Jane and her sister Annie Christina. I dismiss it not just because of the mother name, but the parents age.
My grandmother Annie died 1953, my great grandmother
Was still alive and I'm sorry to say only name I have for her is old granny. Grandmother Annie mother died when she was 8 years old her father never remarried.

      Thank you Marie

Not sure I'm following you. Is this what you mean?
You grandparents were John McCarry and Annie McCann
Annie McCann died in 1953
John's mother was still alive in 1953.
John was 22 in the 1911 Census so born about 1888.
Full age on his marriage cert so born about 1886/87
If his mother was at least 21 when he was born she would be born about 1866. Given an age of about 87 in 1953.
Any idea what age old granny was when she died?

Hi Sinann,
On my grandmother Annie's death certificate she's age 60 years, but I think she was 64/65 years.
I was told my great grandmother was 98 years old when she died.
I have check GRONI online and the oldest is 92 years, husband William, I have checked Lady's in their eighties and draw a blank, but the same applies to grandfather John McCarry.  Thank you Marie.

What about John McCarry your great grandfather any idea when he died.
Does anyone have any idea where he and his wife were buried.

When Annie died in 1953 was there a notice in the paper? It's unlikely to have her mother in laws name but a death notice might have been put in the same paper for the mother in law.

Like I'm sure you have yourself I'm going around in circles searching, with out even the woman's first name it very hard to know where to look.

John (the father) was still alive at the time of his son's marriage so he should be in the 1901 Census

Hi Sinann,
Yes John's father was living went my grandparents married and know I've been unable to find him in 1901 Census.
I've just had another look at 1911 Census and found a Patrick McCorry,  living at 11.1 Massareene Street.
Age 36 born Antrim occupation Labourer Carter, maybe related. Thank you for you help my grandfather and his family have eluded me for years.
Even had a DNA test on Ancestry,  found quite a few relation tracing my father side of the family.
They to are stuck with John McCarry and family. Will try your suggestion of looking at new papers.

                     Thank you Marie.
