Will translation
« on: Monday 15 October 18 19:04 BST (UK) »
I have just found the 30 page will of my 5x Great Grandmother Elizabeth van Deventer.  I don't want the whole thing translated, but could someone have a quick look and see if she left the bulk of her estate to her grand-son Hendrik Willem Schreuder, a student in Groningen.  If possible could you also check and see if she left anything to her son Willem Schreuder living in Leeuwarden  (he is mentioned but I'm not sure of the context)

The will starts on page 100.

There are only about 4 pages of actual will, the rest are inventory, so it is not as bad as it sounds!

Many thanks.

Linda

Page 100:
Willem Schreuder, master gold & silver smith in Leeuwarden => a third part
Hendrik Willem Schreuder, student in Groningen => a twenty-first part (i.e. "the final twenty-first part")

Oh thank you - that makes sense.  She had 3 children who lived to adulthood, one of whom died before her leaving 7 living children.  She must have left 1/3 to each of her children, but in the case of the one who predeceased her, she split his share between the 7 children giving them 1/21st share each.

Many thanks again.
