From the early 20th century onwards, Isidore/Isadore was a secular name commonly given to Jewish boys with the Hebrew name Yitshak instead of the name Isaac. It was another example of the shift away from Biblical forms of common Hebrew names. Other examples are Moses to Morris/Maurice and Levi to Louis/Lewis.

Whilst Isadore is a masculine name, there is also a femine version of it, Isadora, viz the American dancer Isadora Duncan.
