any info welcome on Kazimierz Lucjan Smigielski lived in Nottingham married Minnie alice turner ,
 Kazimierz  at some point add the name  syms to his surname ( got no idea why ??) I got a feeling he might of been born 1913 maybe Poland ??

also noticed there a big gap between death and buriel date ??

Was there perhaps a delay of the burial waiting for an inquest and coroner's report?  Local papers might reveal a reason for this.

I would have concluded that he'd given himself the English surname Syms (i.e. not an extension, but instead of Smigielski)

thanks for the 2  replies so far . gillg yes maybe with luck there is something in the newpaper . his death is not even down on the BMD ( all very odd )

treesprint , my friend and I have found this very puzzling  to sort out , his wife died under the name syms ??

As I indicated before, he seems to have changed his surname from Smigielski  to Syms.

He is also listed as KAZIMIERZ LUCJAN SYMS amongst the UK wills (probate date 6-3-1998).

Just found a tree on Myheritage. Apparently he changed his name to Syms by Deed Poll in 1950 and had 5 children with Minnie.
His parents are listed as Kaziemierz Smigielski and Ludwika.

thanks for that extra info I did wonder if the name was changed by deep poll (( mmm wonder why this was )) also we didn't know there was 5 children just thought the was 3 , I will go and look again on the register . big thanks to you

think I found the other 2 children under the surname of syms and both with English names nt polish names . 1 born 1950 and one born 1952 which would fit in just right .
