Soldier Alex Farren, Glasgow, WWII
« on: Thursday 18 October 18 12:17 BST (UK) »
We have this picture of an extended family member and we would like to know which regiment he was in during - or shortly after - WWII. Unfortunately he is wearing an army great coat so no visible clues as to the regiment within a uniform. All that is visible is the cap and the cap badge, albeit this is obscured by repeated reproduction of the photo over the years. My best guess it is a Royal Scots Fusiliers cap badge (an image of a version I have attached).
Can anyone please confirm, or correct my assumption?
Many thanks.

I would say you are right about the RSF, I cannot find any other badge in my books that look like that.

The Tam O'Shanter headdress is also right for RSF.

It is with great difficulty I share with you that in the early hours of 07 August 2021, Maximilian passed away unexpectedly but peacefully.

With deep sadness,

Many thanks Salty and MaxD, I appreciate your responses.

I also thought the RSF badge was the 'best fit' through a process of elimination of all the rest I could find to compare with.

Thank you both once again.  :)
