John Smith Born Peterhead 1833

Looking for some help to trace

John Smith - Born 24-8-1833 Peterhead to parents William Smith and Isabella Deuchars

1841 age 8 living at cowsrieve Peterhead
1851 age 17 living at arnage - farm servant
1861 age 27 living at cairnstockie ( ellon) - farmers son


i cannot find anything after 1862 he was witness on his fathers death cert


can anyone help me find info on john smith

Have you looked for a marriage or death for him on SP?

Could well be there but nothing pops up for
Me that looks like him maybe a second opinion is good

Without paying to download any marriage/death possibilities nobody would know who the parents were to determine the right entry.

There are 2 x 1871 entries both b 1834 Peterhead and both married.  It looks to me like both marriages were after 1861 and one has a 2yr old dtr Isabella

Have you checked those entries and looked up the marriages on SP to eliminate them?

had a look around and tried a few certs but with no success

I suppose john smith is a very common name afterall

Can you confirm you have checked the 2 x 1871 entries I mentioned above?

it is not the record with Elizabeth ,

however I did a search with a spouse forename jane married to john smith between 1850-1880 - Aberdeen and there is 17 records, unfortunately I ran out of credits again after guessing wrong another 5 times ,

Why are you looking at marriage records from 1850 when you know he was unmarried in 1861?

That’s why I suggested the 2 x 1871 entries as both were born Peterhead and only appear to have married between 1861 and 1871

I wanted to be sure as this would be his adult age , and I guess anything is possible

I have struggled I guess that’s why I’m asking on roots
