Tks for your interest. Yes John Evans child was 7 I remembered after I posted. John was married in1867 to Catherine Davies Pontypridd . John listed being born Llanelly and father David on Wedding Certificate. No other children listed on the 1851 census. John and Catherine are my great grandparents on my mothers side. I find it very difficult tracing welsh when there are so many Evans and Davies. I am hopeful of getting David and Ann Wedding Certificate so I can extend my tree. many Tks for your help Palma

UK wedding certificates do not give place of birth but do give place of abode at time of marriage :)

Do you have John & Catherine on later census, if so could you please give the reference.  Like you we find Welsh research difficult so it helps to give these references.

ADDED
Where do you have him in 1861

Event Date: 21 Jun 1840
Event Place: Llantwit Fardre, Glamorganshire, Wales
Has age of David as 23 (1817) but no age for Ann or Parents details.

Just adding a bit more information on this marriage

wit William Llewellyn & Ann Jones

Hi Rosie, John Evans left Wales in 1879. He arrived Brisbane on Earl Derby from London departed 15th March 1879. Catherine and children Rees 12, Ann, John arrived Windsor Castle 23rd July 1880. Hence no more census for him. I found another Census 1861 John Evans boarder 17 yrs born Cardigan Llanelly. RG 9 4045 folio 80 page 66. Sub district Gelligar, Reg Dis Merthyr Tydfil. seems right area to me, but no closer to David and Ann Evans marriage. John died October 1886 , when he was 42. I will try and check out Ann Howell and see if I can get any leads from that side. Tks again nice to have someone interested when it’s so frustrating. Cheers Palma

It would be nice to definitely locate David or Ann in 1861, I am not having much luck.  I do wonder if Ann was married prior to marrying David.

Hi Rosie, I found a baptism David Evans 13th May Tregaron Cardiganshire on Family Search. Need to check Find my Past for details , I will have to check community site if someone can check for me as I am only on Ancestry.  The only Ann Howell I found was 15th September 1811 Rockfield Monmouthshire no sure if that is near Aberystwyth. I figured if they married it would be in 1837/1838 unless they lost babies before the. likewise if Ann had been married and widowed before you would think there would be children from that marriage.  It’s so difficult with so many Evans , not so many Howells though. Shame no census before 1841. Maybe they just lived together. Will double check census tonight , been busy helping friend who had hand opened on. Tks Rosie again Paley.
