Laura Dudbridge ancestors
« on: Saturday 20 October 18 14:05 BST (UK) »
Good day everyone,

My 3g-grandmother, Laura Dudbridge (or variant) was born in Upper Canada abt 1813. She married Orrin Holt, in Woodhouse (now the Town of Simcoe) Ontario in 1831. Orrin is from the USA (born in Ashford CT)  and I believe Laura's family is as well. I also believe her parents John Dudbridge and Elizabeth Beemer are from the USA. I am attempting to trace the family back, but not having much luck. I am guessing her parents are from NYS or PA, but have not found any real evidence yet. I have not found her birth record yet either so perhaps she was born in the USA too.

Any help with this is appreciated.

I believe the second post in this thread relates to your Dudbridge:

Dudbridge of Bucks and NJ

That poster said: "John Dudbridge married Elizabeth Beemer in Philadelphia 28 Apr 1793."  If this next post is correct, then the couple was in Canada by 1801 when their son John H. was born.

Looking at the censuses for 1790-1850, Dudbridges were clustered in Bucks Co. PA.  The only Dudbridge listed in the 1790 census was William in Bucks Co., with one male under 16, one male 16 or over, and 3 females.

This poster gives parents for Elizabeth Beemer/Bohmer:

The factualness of posts on worldconnect can be iffy, so check out the info by some other means.
