A William Newman also married Ann Grossmith in 1868 and she appears on the 1881 Census as the step-sister (actually sister-in-law) of Thomas Brinsley. She was born in Longthorpe in the same year as Ann on the 1891 census.

Elizabeth Dicks on the 1881 census was also Grossmith of Longthorpe.

For info.

I think Elizabeth Dicks nee Grossmith may be dau of Thomas occ. Shepherd & Elizabeth but
she's not with them on 1841 c  ???
edit she would't be as born c1845  ::)
she is with parents and older brother William 1851c HO107; Piece: 1747; Folio: 569; Page: 3

This is the 1881 census showing the three Grossmith sisters:-

William is still in Kent. Ignore the C - it is a loop on the N of Newman. Also, the age is incorrect:-

He is also there on the 1885 Electoral Register.

I can't find details of the marriage, so it may have been at the Register Office.

Hi all

Been to Peterborough archives today. They don't have any microfiche for longthorpe as they believe it hasn't been filmed and that the registers are thought to be still with the church. May be worth getting in touch with the church warden at longthorpe
