Hello all

I wonder if anyone could please help me to fill in some missing gaps?

I managed previously to get back to my 2 x great grandparents who were Elizabeth (Bridget) Padden b1818 - d1910 and Michael Morrisroe b1818 - d1901, both probably born Templevanny area of Co. Sligo but most likely registered in Boyle Co. Roscommon.  Their denomination was RC.

That was as far as I got, but now I have managed to go back another generation to find that Elizabeth's parents were John Padden b1788  and Catherine Clark b1788.

I would really appreciate any information no matter how little on the Padden and Clark families.  I am interested in where they were actually born and whether they were Farmers as were my later relatives.

Any information would be very much appreciated.

Thank you very much.

Liz

Hi Liz,

That’s great that you managed to get back so far.
Where did you find records for Elizabeth's parents? It will help with searching and prevent unnecessary repetition.
When you ask for information re the families, what time span do you mean?

Regards
Heywood

Hello Heywood

As John Padden and Catherine Clark were both born in 1788, I was wondering if it was possible to find their parents so perhaps looking at around 1760's if that is possible.

I have been very lucky in being gifted a years subscription to Ancestry and have been reading other people's family Trees and picked up that Elizabeth (Bridget) Padden's parents were John Padden and Catherine Clark.

Was interested to see if I could find out if they were Farmers as were my other relatives.

Thank you for your help.

Regards.

Liz

Just wondering where the assumed dates of birth came from

Are these your Michael and Elizabeth?
Michael MORRISROE died aged 60 on Jul 07 1901 LINK
implies born circa 1841
Elizabeth (Bessie) MORRISROE died aged 63 on May 26 1910 LINK
implies born circa 1847

The 1901 census shows this Bessie living with her son Richard, who was the informant on her death certificate
She is shown aged 50 = implies born circa 1850 and is more interestingly shown as widowed!

Also looking at the birth records for Michael and Brigid their mother's maiden name was CROFTON

Birth of Brigid (Bee) LINK
Kearney & Bourke/ Johns & Fox/ Mannion & Finan/ Donohoe & Curley
Byrne [Carthy], Keeffe/ Germaine, Butler/ McDermott, Giblin/ Lally, Dolan
Toole, Doran; Dowling, Grogan/ Reilly, Burke; Warren, Kidd [Lawless]/ Smith, Scally; Mangan, Rodgers/ Fahy, Calday; Staunton, Miller
Further generations:
Brophy Coleman Eathorn(e) Fahy Fitzpatrick Geraghty Haverty Keane Keogh Nowlan Rowe Walder

I was about to post the same as Myluck!

I have seen the tree which shows the information posted re Elizabeth/Bridget Padden but this would seem to be Elizabeth/Bessie Crofton. :-\

Here is the death of Michael Morrisroe in 1900 - the tree shows the death as 1901 but it could be 1900

Heywood - I noticed the discrepancy there for the date of death as well
It could be that there were two families with very similar names or that fibs were told when registereing!
