ENHANCEMENT OF HEADSTONE INSCRIPTION,PLEASE?
« on: Monday 22 October 18 02:13 BST (UK) »
Is somebody able to enhance this photo so the inscription can be read more easily, or have I been watching too many CSI TV shows?  ;D I've tried to do so using the basic Picasa program without success, so I was hoping somebody "out there" may have a better editing program than me.

The headstone relates to "John Hooke West", which can be read without enhancment. He died 11 June 1821. I think I can make out under his name ".....of Taunton .........for the recovery of his health and died June 11......." There may also be an Ann West on the same headstone, she dying 17 Jan 1803.

I've supplied 2 photos if that helps?

Hi Les,

There is no need to make an additional topic, just attach the image to this topic if you can.

Regards

Sarah

I think this one has been overlooked so this will bring it back up the board...not my forte I'm afraid.

Thanks Carol - I appreciate this one may be a bit harder than normal. If it can be done that's a bonus, if not, I totally understand  :)

Hi, Les.
I'm not much help, I'm afraid. I played around with it but couldn't come up with anything better than your originals. I think part of the trouble is that the horizontal and curved strokes are particularly badly worn so that you're left with a mass of mainly vertical strokes.
Hope someone else can do better for you.
Cheers,
Peter

Thanks for trying Peter. I know it's a very hard request with this posting, but if I don't ask I'd never know whether it was possible or not?
