Blackfordby marriages
« on: Wednesday 24 October 18 10:21 BST (UK) »
I'm searching for the marriage between one John Stonyer and his wife Elizabeth. John was born c1799 in Seighford in Staffordshire to Richard Stonyer and Mary Oakden, had 7 siblings, and as far as I can tell at the moment married Elizabeth about 1823. They had three children, Martha, born and baptised  1824 in Blackfordby, Mary, born and baptised in Measham, and finally John Thomas, born and baptised in Burton-upon-Trent. Martha later married Peter Heath and migrated to the US (when immigrants were welcome ;) ). John and Elizabeth went with them and John continued his trade as a miller in Albany, in New York state.

I'm assuming that John and Elizabeth married in Blackfordby, but there's no marriages listed online between 1775 and 1832, the time during which John and Elizabeth married. Were marriages carried out at Blackfordby during that time? Have the PRs been lost? Or am I just looking in the wrong place?

I'm trying to find out Elizabeth's maiden name, and where she actually came from. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

A Betty Ward was baptised in Ravenstone on 2nd February 1806 to Thomas and Martha.

Martha Ward, not born in county, is in Ravenstone Hospital in 1841, age 65.

Of Ravenstone Hospital, she was buried in Ravenstone on 2nd April 1851, age 78.

She may have been the daughter of Thomas and Mary Hatchett, baptised on 23rd May 1773 in Arley, Warwickshire, approximately 19 miles from Packington.

A Thomas Hatchett married Mary Shilcock(e) on 10th October 1759 in Shuttington, Warwickshire, approximately 10 miles from Packington and 14 from Arley

A Thomas Ward was baptised in Ravenstone on 27th June 1766, son of Thomas and Elizabeth.

P.S. Just re-checked the 1860 US census, and Elizabeth is listed as "Betsey"
