hi folks.

my ggggrandfather died in 1891 there was an inquest into his death,is it possible to get information on the inquest.

If the papers have survived they will be in PRONI in Belfast. The e-catalogue should tell you what years they hold but the records themselves won't be on-line. So you would need to go to PRONI yourself or get a researcher to do that. Another alternative is to look for newspaper reports of the inquest. You might get something from that. (Many of the Irish papers are on-line on the British Newspapers site). Pay to view of course.

Inquests, the gorier the better, were often reported in newspapers in great detail. You can do free searches here- by changing the search terms repeatedly you can often get a large part of an article.
