PS: I investigated the Michael DALTON/DILLON aspect and it appears to be something of a red herring
Regarding the above , further squinting at the records reveals that Edward Dalton was a cooper.
There is a family named Daulton in Clay Street , Kirkgate , Leeds in 1841. Edward Daulton aged 40 is a cooper and there is a Michael Daulton , aged 6. ... probably a coincidence.
