John BEAMOND
« on: Friday 26 October 18 04:53 BST (UK) »
Hi

I am trying to trace John BEAMOND's parents.  He was bapt 1727 in Sowerby-  no father listed but mother was listed as Beccky BEAMOND.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

John married Elizabeth

Looks like he was illegitimate.

He was "base" according to the parish register - so no father named, as you have found out.
Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.

I was pretty sure he was illegitimate but it's nice to have someone else to have a look and confirm this.

Tracing Beccky BEAMOND might be hard but I'll give it go.  I'm guessing that her name may have been Rebecca.

Ancestry have a gap in their coverage for Sowerby from 1695-1708, so not likely.  Christ Church Sowerby Bridge didn’t start till 1709, there is Sowerby St Peters that has the coverage you are looking for, you could try browsing through those just to be sure..
