So now I am totally confused.

I don't think it's me that is confused. There are a number of trees on ancestry which have Thomas Adsley Brown as the son of Thomas and Emma. This seems to be due to a spectacular failure to do proper research.

Well there was an Emma Adsley b 1853, Elham
But did she marry Mr Swain?

Emma was baptized at Elham, 20 Feb 1853. Father Stephen was a labourer.
Emma Hasley married Stephen Edward Swain, 28 April 1873 at Paddlesworth. Her residence was Elham, father Stephen, a labourer.
She said she was of full age, but I don't think there's much doubt that it's the same Emma.

searching for Thomas Brown, born about 1847 in Belfast.
Would like to know if Thomas was indeed born about 1847 in Belfast and who his parents were.
Did he marry Emma in Ireland ? If yes when and where ?

The army record for this man in WO97 says that he was born in Rathfarnam, Dublin.
Attested for the 60th Rifles at Dublin in February 1866, age 19.
Confirms that he married Sarah Emma Smith in Kent, though it's a bit confused about the details.

His son Thomas born 1875 was still in Chatham in 1911, his widowed mother was living with him.

Thomas Brown born Ireland apparently has no connection with Thomas Adsley Brown, who admittedly may be something of a mystery man.
