Chevening parish registers
« on: Friday 26 October 18 15:57 BST (UK) »
Is there anyone who can look up a marriage in Chevening for me?  George Head and Elizabeth Bex on 29th November 1827.  I am hoping to find their fathers names. Thank you

Welcome to rootschat

Freereg has the marriage as St Margaret, Halstead on 25 Sep 1827.   They don't give any information on witnesses. Marriages at this time would not normally show fathers names.

I see familysearch have it as the November date you have given.  Freereg does not show it as banns

Welcome to Rootschat woodwyeth.

I am a bit confused here looking at a Family Tree for Elizabeth.

They have her born 1761 Goldalming, Surrey as Elizabeth BEX
Married George BOWERS 1790
Then George HEAD 1827.

If she married George Head 1827 it would be under her married (Widowed name) BOWERS.

They have her dying  25 MAR 1848 • Ripley, Surrey
But that burial 31 Mar 1848 is under Elizabeth BOWERS age 86 (1762)

Looking at the burial image George Bowers appears to be buried 4 Aug same year age 87.

So something is very wrong here ???

Do you have George/Elizabeth on 1841/1851 Census?
What child of theirs are you descended from?
Name/DOB/POB please.

Hi Trish
We have Elizabeth Head on the 1841 census and her sons William and Henry, living with William and Elizabeth Bex (her parents?) in Sanderstead, Surrey.  We can't find George.  We have found 2 marriages listed in 1827 both in Kent but until we can get to look at the registers we can't confirm.  My husband is descended from William Head, his 3 x G Grandfather.

The 1841 Sanderstead census that you mention has

William Bex 50 - not born in County
Elizabeth Bex 50 - Not born in county
Lots of others  :)
Eliza Head 30 Not born in County
William Head 12 Not born in County
Henry Head 3 Born in Surrey

Later census has William bn Lincfield (Lindfield / Lingfield   :-\ )  Sussex and Bramley Surrey - Elizabeth bn Balcomb, Sussex

So not the Godalming Elizabeth Bex Trish  ;D

Thanks for the clarification woodwyeth and rosie.

I told you that Tree was dodgy even though not relevant to the George/Elizabeth we are after :D
