The Chappell family

Looks very likely this family moved to America in the 1860's

Sarah Jane Gardner b 1847 Hawkesbury Gloucestershire, parents Lewis and Elizabeth Gardner.  Sarah married Luke Chappell in 1865 Hawkesbury.  After that year ancestry gives entries referring to the USA which I do not have access to.

Any help would be appreciated

Family Search  has a Luke Chappell, born England October 1843, (or 1845), emigrated 1870, living in Freedom,  Portage, Ohio in 1900 and 1920 BUT wife Mary Ann!

Also death of Mary Ann Chappell in 1935. (Maiden name Handy)

Deaths of children of Luke Chappell (and variations). One  gives mother's name as Mary  Gardener,  the other Jane Gardener.

William Chappell married  Portage, Ohio in 1901. Son of Luke Chappell and Sarah Gardener.

Needs some careful cross checking. Could be two Lukes!

Born Elyria, Ohio. 1884.

In 1910 Luke  and Mary Ann recorded as Married for 31 years.

All very confusing!

The 1910 census indicates that it was a second marriage for Luke and first marriage for Mary Ann.

Thank you for looking. Still confused, been looking to see if Sarah Jane had died and that's why Luke went to the States but found nothing.
