Waterloo soldier from Prussia need help
« on: Sunday 28 October 18 01:52 GMT (UK) »
I am trying to find a list or source to find a relative of mine that supposedly fought at Waterloo before coming over to America.  His name was John William Honenbrink and was Prussian.  Thanks for any help.

Yes, thanks.  He was born 1791 in Lower Saxony and immigrated in 1842.  Died in Ohio in 1882.
Thanks again!

Do you know his place of birth. If a village, nearest recognisable town or city. He may have been KGL, Hanoverian evaders that escaped French occupation in Napoleonic wars. KGL were at Waterloo and a few Hanoverian regiments, reconstituted in 1814.

OK, what I wrote may help alert possibility of Kings German Legion which I guess feature in British military records.
