Father knew Lloyd-George ??
« on: Sunday 28 October 18 03:33 GMT (UK) »
I'm posting this to the Wales forum because, although it probably relates to Glamorgan, I cannot be certain of this.
I found the attached photo/postcard in with family memorabilia, but cannot identify with any certainty any of the people, except LL-G.  It is possible that the gentleman behind LL-G is my great-grand father, Howel Watkins, who had been a local body politician and Mayor of Swansea in 1897. Certainly some members of the family had Liberal connections but mainly in a later period than this photo.

By the dress I am guessing that this is earlier than the 1910 election so may relate to the 1900 or 1906 campaigns. The youngster standing with Ll-G might be one of his daughters, Megan, Olwyn, or Mair, depending on the date of the photo, but, in that case where are the rest of the family ?
Has anybody any thoughts on the identity of any of the group ?
Baron (of Blackburn), Chadwick (Oswaldtwistle), Watkins (Swansea), Jones (x3 Swansea), Colton (Shropshire), Knight (Shropshire/Montgomery) , Bullen (Norfolk), White (Dorset)

The Lloyd George family in 1905:

The lady stood behind LL-G in your photo could be his wife.
The two men standing in your photo have their hands resting on the chairs of ladies in front (their wives?).
As the young child in the 1905 link is Megan, probably Megan in your photo as well (same era?)

The lady sitting on the left of the picture is his wife.

To me, the hats and dress style suggests circa 1908 (possibly to 1910)

A lovely photo  :)

I’m one of the Friends of the Lloyd George Museum .... I’m sure our Chair Emryn would be fe able to help .   I will pm you my email address if you can email your query  and I will forward it to him ... the museum email goes to the council who runs it and ascthe museum is closed for the season apart from special sessions it could well get lost.
