Was his wife, Hazel?

You say he’s missing after 1953, with his wife, or not?

Is there a middle name for him on his children’s birth certificates?

What is the nature of the sighting in 1953?

I see a sad birth event in 1952

NORMAN, STILL-BORN
23810/1952
Kenneth Ronald
Hazel May
GULGONG

Hi Jamjar and Sparrett,

Its believed he left/abandoned his family.  His birth cert records his second name as being Raymond but he gave his middle name as Ronald.  I haven't seen any of the children's birth certs but I'd say he believed or was told that his middle name was Ronald because that's what he always used.

His wife was Hazel Corliss.  I'm not exactly sure when Ken was last with the family but as a shearer I'm guessing he was away from the family quite often and around about this time (1953) he didn't return to them.

To those following this post I believe I've found a death in NSW which may be a match for Kenneth Norman:

Kenneth Morcroft NORMAN died 1960 aged 40
Forbes, NSW 1960/12382

A further search of Forbes Cemetery reveals a death date of 1st May 1960.  He would have been aged 42.

I believe Hilda Norman married James Laurence MORECROFT in Bristol in 1919 and that this might explain the name on this death record.  A cert will be sourced and I will update the board on the results.

Hi Rootschatters,

Kenneth Norman died 1st May 1960 at the Forbes District Hospital at age 40 of a Myocardial Infarction (Heart Attack).  He was a Council Employee, Parents Unknown, place of birth Unknown and time in NSW Unknown.  It does reveal a marriage and chn but for privacy reasons I won't reveal those details.

If anyone is researching this family and would like further information please send me a personal message and I'll be happy to assist.

Regards,
Sage.

It is good to see you seem satisfied with this conclusion to your searches.

Without a located birth registration and without accurate parental information at the marriage to Hazel and without parental information on the DC, it is hard to be quite positive of the connection
However, the coincidence of names and dates and places is persuasive.

Records from Barnardos would possibly help.

The marriage of Hilda to Laurence Morecroft which produced 3 children, ended by the mid 1920's , and she remarried and had further children, I believe.

There is also a tree on Ancestry which has a photo of Hilda.

The fact that Kenneth seems to have introduced  the name MORECROFT into his own name at some stage in his life makes one wonder whether he did some research of his own to uncover the information about his origins.

The tree mentioned above, gives parental names for Hilda NORMAN and a second given name of Stella.
The name MURPHY does not appear. ::)

Actual certificates are not shown.
