I found infos on a forum called PAGES 14-18.
It appears that there were several ships called GLADIATEUR .
Gladiateur II, III and IV were requisitionned during WWI.

You can get their death certificates if you ask for them at the Mairie of Plouha . They have a web site . Type Mairie de Plouha , click on site web, click on Contact et horaires at the bottom of the page. Fill in the form and write:
 Madame, monsieur,
Pouvez vous me faire parvenir une copie integrale des actes de deces de Pierre Marie Le Bian, 1919 acte numero 12, et Eugenie Mevel 1913 acte numero 33 ?

Though he died in 1918, the deth certificate is to be found in 1919
