Ok. No point in looking in Ireland.
Give a man a record and you feed him for a day.
Teach a man to research, and you feed him for a lifetime.

It looks as though both Bernard and Sarah are in England (Newcastle )  in 1871 so you would think the marriage would be 1871 - 1874. Roseanna b 1874, Durham.

I wouldn’t even know where to start in lreland, I’ve heard it’s impossible!!

You would think there would be a marriage in Newcastle/Northumberland/Durham area but I just can’t find one 😤

I’m wondering if they ever actually married or if she just took his name??

I was wondering if there were any baptism records which might indicate something about status or origins of parents.

There was also a Bernard born and died 1891.

It doesn't help with your original query but there is a piece in the Sunderland Daily Echo and Shipping Gazette of 20 June 1893 about the Bernard Gough who died in 1893. He was employed by the Consett Iron  Company at the time of his death and his six children successfully sought damages under the Employer's Liability Act in respect of his death. £200 was awarded : eldest girl £20 ;the eldest boy £10 ;  the next boy 15 years of age £10 ; the next boy 13 years of age £40 ; next boy 8 years of age £50 ; and the youngest girl 5 years of age £70 .

The ages seem to fit with the children in the 1891 census.
