Marriage Of Henry Preedy
« on: Monday 29 October 18 20:43 GMT (UK) »
Hi all,

I am looking for a marriage for a Henry Preedy in the London/Middlesex area about 1835.
His spouse would be a Elizabeth.

William was born in St. Sepulchre's Parish London 1814.
Elizabeth (according to the 1851 census) in Middlesex St. Annes in 1809. I do not have her maiden name sadly ... hoping this will reveal all.

Henry's father was John (mother Elizabeth) if that helps ID the right marriage.

The Preedy name has been spelt many ways over the years:
Preddy, Priday, Pruday, Prudy, Predy, etc.

They had a son in 1838 in St Margaret's, Middlesex, London in 1838.

Many thanks in advance.

Neil.

The 1851 census states Chas Fisher as Son-in-law (I have a copy from many years ago I got from Chancery Lane).  Maybe Chas Fisher is Brother In Law ?

Think more likely that Charles Fisher is a stepson to Henry, i.e. a son of his wife Elizabeth which means that either she was unmarried when she had Charles and so her surname is Fisher or more likely was previously married to a Fisher.

This would mean that you need to look for a Fisher/Preedy marriage which would be consistent with her stating her maiden name as Murch on childrens' birth registrations as there probably was a previous Murch/Fisher marriage.

Pheno

Edited to add:  There is an Eliza Murch marriage to a Charles Fisher in Lambeth on 28 Aug 1826 but have not followed this through.

This would tie in with the age on the 1851 census but not the area. I've had that a few times or incorrect place of birth given and they were living in St. Anne's at the time.

Not located them on the 1841 as yet ...

I did a quick look for a Preedy/Fisher and Preedy/Murch marriage again nothing turned up.

EDIT: just seen the edit ---- Eliza Murch / Charles Fisher marriage .. interesting.
