Maybe this is Donald's death, can't find him in 1871.

SUTHERLAND, DONALD. age 56, 1868 Dunnet. 036/ 24

Thanks solidrock. Not Donald as he and his wife attended Jane's wedding in Edinburgh in 1877.
Cheers,
Col :)

So, if they remained in Latheron, only two possibilities:

SUTHERLAND JANET 84 1897 038/ 17 Latheron
SUTHERLAND JANET 87 1900 038/ 82 Latheron

For Donald:

SUTHERLAND DONALD 68 1880 038/ 90 Latheron
SUTHERLAND DONALD 77 1887 038/ 3 Latheron
SUTHERLAND DONALD 75 1887 038/ 25 Latheron
SUTHERLAND DONALD 79 1891 038/ 31 Latheron

Do you have them on any census after 1861?

I'm curious, how do you know they attended their daughter's wedding?

Thanks Jamjar, will check these. Know they attended Jane's wedding because I purchased the marriage cert from ScotlandsPeople which has proved a valuable resource for tracing my mainly Scottish ancestors.

I'm confused, none of my Scottish certs tell me who attended the wedding. What does it say, exactly?

Jamjar, you're right and I'm assuming they attended because they're not shown as deceased which parents are on some of my other Scottish marriage certs.
Cheers,
Col  :)

Also, Jamjar I'm assuming that the deceased notation is in fact common practice of Scottish marriage certs. If it isn't, then maybe solidrock was right in the earlier post re Donald sutherland's death which would explain not finding him in post 1861 censuses. I have assumed that records are complete when this may not necessarily be the case. Oh well, another bit of tracking.
Cheers,
Col
