Don't you have the family in any census bastawolfie?

I can see them in 1881 at 47 Christian Street, with daughters Hannah and Sarah. There appear to be two other families also at No 47. let me know if you would like the full details, (though the 1881 census is widely and freely available).  :)

Added. SB has beaten me to it.

Added: Christopher born in Whitechapel, Bridget in London, Hannah in Deptford and Sarah in Whitechapel.  :)

I wonder if this might be the marriage:
Marriages June quarter 1869
district: Mile End
1c 907
Christopher May and Bridget Barry on the same page

16th May 1869
St Thomas Stepney
Christopher May of full age "Carman" residence Stepney father John May general dealer
Bridget Barry minor with consent residence Stepney father James Barry Bricklayer.
both signed
witnesses: James Barry and Catherine Maycroft

I'm not sure if this is the correct marriage but am just supplying the information in case. Christoper is a "Carman" rather than labourer.  :-\

I think that is the right birth sb.  :)

I found Christopher in 1861 with parents John and Ellen and younger brother William. They are living at 3 Newnham Place St Botolph. John is a fruit seller, as are the rest of the family.

I noticed several "sugar" related buildings in the near vicinity.

Sorry to not have responded to your comment, but we've been busy, haven't we  ;)

St Geo East and Whitechapel were at the centre of the East End sugar refining industry. From the very early 1700s, refiners began moving out from the City to beyond Aldgate, and as my maps show there were eventually sugarhouses in many of the streets, with some having quite a concentration, eg. Wellclose Sq, Leman St, Ratcliffe Highway, and later, Christian St.
This post though is set in 1884, at the time when the East End trade had all but collapsed. Just the odd sugarhouse in Christian St, Betts St etc that lasted a few more years, and one up in Dunk St MENT (that actually continued until 1961).
The new refineries of Lyle and Tate out at Silvertown had taken over London's sugar production. With the Bristol trade nearly finished, the competition came from Liverpool and Greenock ... competition that, once Lyle and Tate had become one, they set about buying out.
