The Voyage of the Blonde is getting a bit exciting - there is something happening on the road to Lima from Callao, with shooting from the Castle at Callao

Anyway, can anyone figure out the underlined word please.

the rest says

I think it's promulged - abbreviated or in error for promulgated.

Looks more like Gonsalez than Jonathon, but that's highly unlikely!  ;D Hmmm...

Well, they did get onboard at Callao which is Peru, so I suppose they might have given him a Spanish name? 

Gonzalez Barton?  I'm not fancying it.  and I think Barton is correct.
any Peruvian's that have been on board up to now all get Don rather than Mr.
