Name on 1911 Census
« on: Tuesday 30 October 18 20:25 GMT (UK) »
I am having trouble determining what the surname is on line 5 of this 1911 census.  It's Mrs Rose something, I have tried several possibilities to try and find on other census records with no luck.  Hard to know if the last letter is an n or w.  It certainly looks like the middle 4 letters are eema.

If anyone has any suggestions, I would be very grateful.

Thank you

Besman?

The initial letter is almost identical to that of Brown on the 1st line.
Also compare the last letter to the last letter of Brown!

Hi

Would you post the name from the bottom right-hand corner and the name from the next page?

Thanks

The others are Browne with the e, as per the attached, James Browne being the head.  The Browne's are my ancestors.  Just trying to find if there is any link to the other name person on the census, but struggling to find her anywhere else.

Does look like Besman?

Although no relationship is given could she be a sis-in-law of head if not sister?

Hi

Is this them?

James (Julian) Browne 64D Bermondsey 1d58 (mmn Bareham)
married 85S Greenwich 1d1423  Eleanor Harriett Elliott

I don't believe  it ( Rose's surname ) is Bareham.

Thanks for replies so far.

It does look like Besman but does not seem to be on any other records?!

Yes Ray, that is their marriage record, James and Eleanor Browne in Greenwich.  Bareham was James Browne's mother's maiden name.

The person does not match any of his sisters or her sisters either.  It could just be some random staying with them, but the fact she is married and not with husband, and the children are old enough not to need a nanny, does suggest it could be another family member.
